SO...
Some of us won the award for "Most Hare-Brained Parents" this year & we completely forgot about school picture day, sending our Little Lad off to school without primping or even considering his attire. But you know, it doesn't really matter all that much because no forgetful parent could make more of a travesty of the school pictures than the photo-editing crazed folks at "Life Touch" anyway. He arrived dressed in his old Headstart t-shirt & somebody had to comb his hair (& that, well, wasn't so good. Someone said he looks like Justin Beiber & I kinda know what he looks like from action figures & a cardboard stand up in the comic book shop & I can't say I like that either.)
BUT. Who cares when they put your child up against backgrounds like these:
(Oh, before I begin jabbing forks in your eye (& mine) -- I took these photos with my phone when we were given the proofs, but remarkably, my phone stayed very true to the actual images.)

| Oooh... Are we shopping the ivy leagues today? |
![]() |
| Oh, wait. Perhaps we are considering the clergy? |

| Stopping off at the park... Could they photoshop some fungi in there to mate it more realistic? |
![]() |
| Just taking a break after chopping a few cords of wood... In some weird slanted forest. |
And it gets even better when they start in with the waterplay.

| Huh? What's that? ...I can't hear you over the WATERFALL! |
AAAANNNNDDD... the Pièce de résistance:

| BOOYAH! Lakeside, baby! Hey, these cattails are scratchy. |
Gee whiz. So thrilling. Lucky them it is a ritual which cannot be bypassed with out potentially excruciating ramifications. But I swear, I was close to boycott: There is no option to purchase a standard studio background. The prints cost a billion dollars & you can't opt out of photo taking (unless you keep the children home) & you can't buy the digital files & your child's image remains their property forever. Makes me wish we had been so hare-brained that we forgot to take him to school that day!
