Some People's Kitchen Project: So Many Distractions Part 3

Here we have yet another installment of "reasons why that kitchen isn't done... still"

When Some People returned from the Last Frontier, they found the house looking pretty much like this:

Home Sweet (& Mangy) Home

Okay, exactly like that.

There has been this never ending process of house painting going on here since forever. It will probably be eternal because by the time Some People get all the way around the house, it will be time to paint the front again.

Anyway, the two front doors gave Some People an eyetwitch because only one door frame was painted. Very annoying. But there was also all the peeling & flaking & nonsense happening all over the porch.

Then, the early spring arrived & Some People could not stay indoors. However, they needed to justify all this outdoor time with a "project." So here you have it. (More) Justification for not completing the Kitchen Project:

Pillars required much sanding, puttying & replacement of trim.
Very time-consuming... too bad it was so sunny & pleasant outside.

Much ceiling sanding happened too. Not fun.

Then primer & paint & trim painted & replaced...
& voila!

There's more to this story. But Some People only have as much time as Some Small Changeling-type People allow with their naps. So, you'll have to wait for "(More) Justification for not completing the Kitchen Project," aka "It's So Nice Outside" Part 2.

Before April Ends: Late Report on Chocolate Eggs, Italian Bunnies & Cheapo Kites.

Before the month of April ends, Some People wanted to report on the subject of finding eggs & such.

Some People took the children to the city Easter Egg Hunt earlier this month (4/7).

The city egg hunt was over pretty much as soon as it began. Think about it. Candy all over the lawn at the Elementary school, children separated by age in to three groups, groups are released like packs of rabid racehorses with pastel colored baskets onto designated segments of the schoolyard. Some People had hoped to photograph both children, but The Changeling had acquired perhaps four eggs by the time Rowan's crazed horde had licked the grass clean. Hence, the lack of photographic evidence. Below you will see our limited imagery, but we are certain you can imagine, very vividly what happened that day.

Ready, set, go!

Egg Inspector # 3-10

Yeah... just eating away over here while
we wait for those slow little kids to finish.

The following day (4/8, in case you can't count), more eggs were found in the yard, obviously strewn about by reckless Italian party-bunnies. How did we know that they were from Italy? Well, we can only surmise given that all the chocolate inside said eggs was of Italian origin. It has lots of f's & i's & double c's on the fancy-pants gold wrappers.

Some Small People's parents think perhaps next year they might strike a bargain with these rabbits & have them stuff eggs with gnocchi instead of all that chocolate. This would make Some People's dental bills less horrifying.

Ooooh. A duck. Better put that in the basket.

I am gonna run amok & make it very difficult for you
to photograph me!

 Gah!
Dropped the duck... the eggs... why so complicated?

Perhaps clapping eggs together will make me feel better...

Yes! Yes! Eggs + clapping = happiness!

Some bunnies have a sense of aesthetic.
Those bunnies obviously had no part in the city egg hunt.
Perhaps it is trait found among Italian buns.

The "Goods."

H: Ooooh! Shiny!
R: Hey, what does that label say? Where's the translator?!?

H: Look. I need you to stop taking photos.
I have a mysterious, Italian, cellophane-wrapped package to open.
R: Look at me!
I can mess up the shot wearing this basket on my head!

Are you done already?
Seriously Moma, give it up.
You've already taken like 10 & they are all doomed to fail.

I am going to sit here & eat this while that
little kid attempts to get through the cellophane.
I am also going to look eerily like I did
in the photo yesterday...

Italian chocolate egg.
Just one bite...

& I become one with the egg...
OM.

Yay! A giant dinosaur egg & I get to eat the babies!!!
I just knew paleontology would be delicious!

Even with all that aesthetically-inclined-Italian-bun invoked excitement, Some People think perhaps the best part of this day was flying the totally cheapo, yet strangely effective kite Rowan acquired from the very harried & slightly dilapidated-looking "Easter Bunny" at the city's egg hunt. Lucky Rowan got two rounds of kite-flying action with some of his favourite elders.

Sheesh, this is a lot of work!
Are you sure we're doing this right?

Poppie = kite expert. Now we're flying in style.

Whew! Report complete & it's not yet midnight! Hooray for extra sleep for Some People who burn the candle at both ends!

This.

This is why the house always looks like crap:

Chaos comes in small packages.

This is the other reason:

Sometimes those packages grow larger,
but the chaos remains.

Bad Ideas.

Some Small People's parents -- aka Some People -- thought it might be a fine idea to roll up the rug, roll out the butcher paper & break out the fingerpaints.

And it starts off nice...

Very nice.

...but then...

Hey! What are you doing down there?!?!

We need MORE PAINT!!!

Just what do you mean by
"NO MORE PAINT"?!?!

Look at me! Look at my nice painting!

People!!!
I cannot work without MORE PAINT!!!

Look!
I can make ten different versions of brown!

MORE PAINT! MORE PAINT! MORE PAINT!

GAH!
I keep stepping in that maniac's PAINT!

VIVA LA PAINT!!!

Some People won't be doing that again for awhile. It will take that long to get the paint out of pretty much everything.

For Daddy: Goodnight

Good night Daddy.

We love you.

Good night. Sleep tight.
